We don’t know about you, but when summer rolls around, Peoples Flowers is ready to make a playlist. There’s nothing quite like greeting a new season with some freshly-picked songs cued up, and if you ask us, a summer soundtrack inspired by flowers is exactly what’s in order. To that end, we’ve rounded up a list of songs that all take inspiration from the flora and fauna of the natural world. It’ll be enough to have you dancing barefoot in the grass.
If you’ve got yourself a beautiful mix of fresh flowers, you’re probably wondering about how you’ll get the most out of them. And the truth is, with a little help from you, your flowers can enjoy a happier life. Read on to learn Peoples Flowers top three tips for doing just that.

The Fourth of July is almost here, which means you may be among the many who will be hosting a cookout or fireworks-viewing party. As we prepare for our nation’s upcoming birthday, we turn our attention to creating a patriotic feeling at our Independence Day get-togethers. Beautiful reds, whites and blues adorn our tables and we serve All-American treats like hot dogs and apple pie. Peoples Flower Shops has all the flowers you need to tastefully dress your Fourth of July table in our nation’s colors.
If there’s something worth celebrating in June, it’s the arrival of summer. There’s no better tribute than a sultry, elegant dinner party that takes its cue from the sophisticated ease of the season. Given the warm weather, longer days and mild nights, Peoples Flower Shops is put in the mood for gathering with our best friends and loved ones for a summer dinner by candle and moonlight. Imagine the menu: a platter of salmon, bowls of gazpacho, a heaping salad topped with garden-fresh veggies. A charcuterie advertising the season’s fruits alongside yummy cheeses, figs and olives. What’s missing? A dash of flowers, of course.
It’s June, and people are getting married, and we here at Peoples Flower Shops are 100% here for it.
More people get married this month than any other during the year, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s warm but not too warm. Precipitation lightens up. Vacations are a go, and the kids are home from school. Everything points the way to celebrations worth traveling for as well as worth having. Who doesn’t want the sun to shine on the most important day of their lives? Where there are weddings, there are anniversaries, and while we provide the petals for both weddings and the commemoration of them, we want to showcase the work we do for the latter category.
This June 8, show up to lunch (or dinner, or drinks) with something special in hand for your nearest, dearest friend. Peoples Flowers loves the spirit of National Best Friend’s Day, which devotes itself to celebrating those singular people who come into our lives and feel as if they’ve always been there. We can’t imagine not sharing our best days as well as our worst with our best friends, the ones who make us laugh harder than anybody else, the ones who show up for us no matter what’s going on in our lives.
Peoples Flower Shops loves spring and summer’s bright, busy blossoms, and given that the two seasons share so many flowers in common, it’s easy to swoon. While it’s true that we may gravitate to more tropical-looking or bolder, more vivid arrangements in the summer—favoring more delicate, softly-hued ones in the spring—there are few flowers that are unique to either season. Rather, it’s like the two seasons got together and decided to dominate the year with the most dazzling flowers possible. Today, we peek ahead into what summer has in store, which just builds upon late spring’s bounty.
If you’re anything like us here at Peoples Flowers, you spend Memorial Day both honoring the fallen heroes in your life and getting together with the friends and family who are in it now. The spirit is both respectful and celebratory, and the flowers you use to enhance the events you host in your home have to follow suit. Many of us will be coming together in our outdoor spaces, hosting barbecues or eating dinner under the stars. After all, this is the cusp of summer.
In honor of Mother’s Day, Peoples Flower Shops asked one of our floral designers—who also happens to be a mom—to share her experience and also her expertise when it comes to selecting the perfect flowers for mom this May 13.

How did you get into floral work?
My mother, Marietta, moved out to Albuquerque, New Mexico with my father in the mid 1960s. She became employed as a day surgery nurse at a local hospital. As an outlet and a way to artistically express herself when not working as as nurse, she volunteered at a flower shop. I always thought as a kid (and into adulthood) how neat it was of her to go help out at the flower shop and design flowers. To this day, my mother is an incredible artist. Her forte is watercolor painting. While attending college and studying to become a social worker, I followed in my mother’s footsteps and volunteered at several flowers shops. Through volunteering, I found my passion! It gets in your blood.
