Zoo Boo: Albuquerque’s Top Trick-or-Treating Alternative
Halloween is on a Wednesday this year. If you don’t want to take your little ones out on a school night, you can still celebrate the holiday with a visit to Zoo Boo on Saturday, October 27 at the Biopark Zoo. Explore haunted habitats, join in the costume parade, and take part in costume contests for visitors 12 and under. Up to four children get in free with a paid adult admission of $10.
Haunted Maze
Looking for a real Halloween adventure for the whole family? The Maize Maze at the Rio Grande Community Farm is open until November 1. As we get closer to Halloween, this amazing maze will transform into the Haunted Maze! You can visit on October 26th through the 28th and on the 30th. Watch out around the corners, you never know what you might find. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for kids 3 to 12, and free for 2 and under.
Trick or Treat So Others May Eat
The weather in Albuquerque at the end of October can be a little tricky sometimes. If it’s too cold or wet to go out, consider an indoor event. Trick or Treat So Others May Eat takes place from 6 to 8 on Halloween night at Coronado Center. Even better, it’s for a good cause. There are pumpkin decorating activities, but store-to-store trick-or-treating is the big attraction. Bring canned food to exchange for a starter bag. The food goes to Joy Junction Homeless Shelter and you get a safe, warm place to take your kids for Halloween.

Halloween Safety Tips
Peoples Flowers loves Halloween just as much as our customers. We want you to have a fun and safe night. Here are a few tips to get you started.
1. Wear safe costumes. If you plan to walk a trick-or-treating route, make sure your kids are in costumes that don’t restrict their movement or vision. Stay away from candles and wear fire-resistant costumes.
2. Lights on! When you have young ones out trick-or-treating at night, always keep a flashlight handy. You’ll want to carry one for sure, but your little ones can, too. Add some reflective strips to costumes so they light up and give both motorists and you visual feedback as to where the kids are.
3. Travel in groups. Safety in numbers. This can be extra fun if you get other parents and kids together.
4. Check the treats before you eat. Treat tampering is extremely rare, but it doesn’t hurt to look over the candy your kids have gathered for any obvious signs of problems.
