How to Decorate for Chanukah

shutterstock_167364551Chanukah decorations are meant to be lavish – after all, you’re creating a festival atmosphere for your family and friends. During this holiday, use flowers throughout your home to spice up your traditional decor. Let People’s Flower Shops show you which flowers work best for the Festival of Lights, and how you can use them throughout your Chanukah decor!

On Your Mantel

There are several ways to go about decorating your mantelpiece. You can let flowers take center stage, or you can use them as accents around your menorah. If you want to create a dazzling display with flowers, look for tall flowers like gladioli or larkspur. Both gladioli and larkspur are available in white, and larkspur is one of few flowers that comes naturally in blue, so you’ll be able to make a festive floral display in the traditional Chanukah colors!

Even if you’re planning to place your menorah on the mantel, you can still use flowers as a decorative accent. Use two silver-painted bud bowls filled with white or dyed-blue carnations to flank the menorah, or create a wreath of evergreen boughs and small blue and white flowers to ring the base of your menorah.

There are few better ways to make your traditional Chanukah treats look even more delicious than a gorgeous floral centerpiece. One of the best options is white . A simple basket of these beauties will look stunning against a blue tablecloth. If you’d like to add some color to your arrangement, ask us about dyed blue roses, or mix in pale blue hydrangea to offset the snowy white flowers in your centerpiece.

Accenting the Coffee Table

Another great place to add some floral delight is your coffee table. You can use any of the flowers we’ve mentioned – gladioli, delphinium, carnations, roses and hydrangea – or you can take things in a completely different direction. For instance, imagine how amazing this “Lirios Blancos” bouquet will look with dreidels and other traditional Chanukah decorations scattered around its base.

These are only a few examples of the ways you can use flowers to celebrate the Festival of Lights. Use blue and white flowers to make wreaths or place a custom bouquet on your hall table to welcome your guests. When it comes to floral Chanukah decorations, the options are limitless. People’s Flower Shops is happy to help you explore them all!
