All about Daffodil Days
Daffodil Days is a large fundraiser that helps out the Presbyterian Hospital Hospice. It began in 1999 when Hospice volunteer Joan Walsh came up with the idea of a spring fundraising event that included selling daffodils as a way to get money for those that were struggling with hospice care for their loved ones.
From that small start, Daffodil Days has grown each year to what it is today. It now takes volunteers a few days to wrap and arrange all the daffodils for sale, which are now sold in bunches, a vase, or as part of a larger flower arrangement.
The money raised from the sale of these daffodils will provide financial assistance to families that use the hospice services, including a way to cover medications, food, utilities and funeral expenses.
Details on This Year’s Event
This year’s Daffodil Days is scheduled for March 22 and March 23. There will be 160,000 daffodils that will arrive on Sunday, March 17th. Already, the event has 1,700 pre-ordered arrangements.
The rest of the daffodils will be sold at 26 sales sites throughout the Albuquerque and Rio Rancho areas. There are a number of sales locations to purchase the daffodils.
Be sure to come help support your community by buying a bunch, vase, or arrangement of daffodils. The money goes to such a great cause. Plus, the daffodils are a wonderful way to welcome the spring season that is just around the corner!
