The Fourth of July is almost here, which means you may be among the many who will be hosting a cookout or fireworks-viewing party. As we prepare for our nation’s upcoming birthday, we turn our attention to creating a patriotic feeling at our Independence Day get-togethers. Beautiful reds, whites and blues adorn our tables and we serve All-American treats like hot dogs and apple pie. Peoples Flower Shops has all the flowers you need to tastefully dress your Fourth of July table in our nation’s colors.
The first Independence Day took place on July 4th, 1776 – although at the time, no one really knew about it. In fact, John Adams had proclaimed that July 2nd would be our nation’s birthday, and with the exception of John Hancock’s famous signature, most founding fathers would not even sign the document until August 2nd. Still, the date on the Declaration of Independence is July 4th, and so that is the day we celebrate! From coast to coast and throughout Albuquerque, people will attend picnics, parades, parties, and fireworks displays, all to commemorate the special freedoms we enjoy here in America.
Fourth of July flowers are the perfect way to add patriotic spirit to your backyard barbecue or to thank a veteran for their service. Peoples Flowers is proud to continue our tradition of providing our friends and neighbors in Albuquerque with the beautiful bouquets and arrangements that make every occasion special. Happy 4th from the Peoples Flower Shops Team
On behalf of our entire staff at all of our Albuquerque flower shop locations, we would like to wish each of you a fun and safe 4th of July! We recognize and appreciate that this is a time to reflect on how much we value the independence and freedom we have as a country.
The Fourth of July is a truly wonderful celebration that reminds us all of our freedom as a country and as individuals. While flags and patriotic streamers often are the staple of all Fourth of July decorations, flowers can add a beautiful and natural touch to any Independence Day celebration.
Fourth of July Flower Arrangements
Whether an event is formal or casual, there is always a place for flowers at a Fourth of July event. Many florists have put together patriotic flower arrangements to enjoy, but you can also make your own or work with your local florist on a beautiful arrangement or patriotic centerpieces.
Typically, you will want to use red, white, and blue in your flower arrangements. Red and white flowers are easy to come by – whether you use roses, tulips, carnations, lilies or daisies. Blue flowers, however, may be hard to find.
Sometimes, you can buy flowers that have been dyed blue but these do not tend to last very long. The flower arrangements do not necessarily have to contain blue flowers. Instead, consider using blue glass vases or blue ribbons to complement the red and white flowers and create your patriotic flower arrangements.
Where to Use Flowers on the Fourth of July
There are many places to add flowers on the Fourth of July:
- Centerpieces for party tables;
- Flower baskets for patios, porches, and balconies in residential and commercial districts;
- Wreaths for cemeteries to remember those who fought for our freedom; and
- Parade floats.
Flower Care in Hot Times
It’s already starting to heat up, which means that you will need to take extra care with your flowers for the Fourth of July to ensure that they do not wilt before or during the big celebration. Be sure to keep the flowers in cool areas outside of the direct sunlight.
While they may end up getting exposed to sunlight during the event, at least they can stay fresh beforehand. You can also use misters or spray bottles during your event to spray the flowers with a light amount of water to help them cope with the warmer weather.
